A photography hobbyist since 1977… My career was in Information Technology since 1987, and retired in 2020 due to health reasons. I’m currently focusing on enriching my hobby as a photographer, while exploring the different cities and villages of my country, Saudi Arabia.
I ran a commercial photography studio between 2003 and 2007. Professionally, I worked with a number of advertising & creative agencies, and participated in the first edition of the Saudi Arabian encyclopedia. A list of clients can be found here.
I don’t participate in contests or competitions for many personal viewpoints. I also never made an exhibitions; I still feel I don’t have wall-worthy photographs. It could be the imposter syndrome, you be the judge of that :)
My first SLR was my father’s Canon FT QL. The camera was 100% manual, which contributed immensely to my learning curve. Once a roll of film was done, I remember taking two buses, then walk for 15 minutes to reach the lab to develop my roll. After four days, I go back to the lab to collect the film & prints (if the roll wasn’t burnt).
Currently, and for the past four+ decades, my choice for photography gear has always been Canon. When traveling, I (sometimes) switch to zoom lenses instead of prime lenses.
